Despite the early goal against, the USSR would bounce back to win the game 4-1. The Soviets played six games against EHL opposition on that tour, winning five, and tying against the Knoxville Knights. They also played, and won, two games against the University of Denver Pioneers of the NCAA. The tour had been arranged as part of the USSR’s preparation for the 1964 Winter Olympics.
